Our Ministries

Prayer

Prayer is central to what we do at Our Savior’s.

The community at Our Savior’s prays weekly in worship for members and friends of the congregation who desire support and healing.  A list is published with the specific need for prayer, so that members may pray for the people on the list during the week.  If you have someone to add to the prayer list,  call the office at (860) 667-2291.

Sunday school

Sunday school is from ages preschool through grade 6.  Classes are during our 10:00 AM worship service on Sunday mornings.  Our experienced teachers lead mixed age groups through a curriculum based on scriptures over the course of the year.  Pastor engages young and old alike with a children's sermon during worship, and children are invited to remain in worship with their families or head to Sunday School.  All children return in time to join with their families for Holy Communion

Interfaith Clergy of Newington

Interfaith Community Action of Newington (ICAN)

ICAN is an interfaith project supported by the Interfaith Clergy Association and administered by Human Services.  Volunteers from Newington congregations offer assistance to residents in need to supplement services provided through the Senior and Disabled Center and Human Services.  Assistance includes small household repairs, shopping and visiting, transportation to medical appointments when Dial-A-Ride is not available and leaf raking.  The ICAN phone line is: (860)665-8791.

Music

The Bell Choir plays as often as possible in worship.  No experience is necessary to join!

Our organist, David Marottolo, provides lovely music to the enthusiastic singing of our congregation.  Instrumentalists in the congregation, including flute, baritone, French horn and voice, accompany the hymns or offer solos in worship.

A pick up vocal choir is organized on an occasional basis by members to offer special music in worship.

We have a place for your musical gifts at Our Savior’s!

Community Service

  • Our congregation participates in all sorts of community service and justice work:

  • building homes for Habitat For Humanity

  • collecting recyclable cans for Camp Calumet in NH

  • visiting the aged, sick and lonely through the Care Teams

       and much, much more.
